In a.d. 1995
war was beginning
The norwegian amigascene was at crisis, as most hot shot elite sceners had
gone to try their luck in the gamebusiness (fooled by Funcom's big money
and fame), and left the scene with a broken back in a pool of blood and
lameness. But in the dark shadows of the ancient forests and the mountains
things were stirring. Like fungus in a humid pile of trash new demogroups emerged at underground parties, until now having been restricted to strive for the recognition of their drunk neighbours and freckled little sisters.
At Oddysey 95, deep in the ancient woods ruled by giant elks, a six-headed
troll began taking its first stubmling steps towards world domination. In
a dark alley somewhere at this local norwegian party, the historical
handshake of two young boys took place. They were the oldschool musician
and guitar playing toreador Xiphias (aka Zixaq) and the wannabe-assembler&amos-coder Emx (aka Cyberstarr), and they agreed to assemble a new norwegian demogroup.
At the partyplace was also Loaderror, the savage graphician and amos-coder
from the desert and uncivilized mountains, and Frequent, the curly haired
spastic with endless references in ambient music and demoscene records.
They both joined, and the group's birth was a fact. Xiphias also knew a
couple of underage boys who were in fact quite promising graphicians, and
a few weeks later, Wad (aka Stoney) and Cheetah(aka Skybert) were let in,
and the team was complete.
Now, all they needed to do was to gather around the table to make plans
about how to overthrow the scene and become elite. During the autumn an
internal meeting was arranged at Zixaq's place. Cyberstarr, Frequent,
Stoney and Skybert all joined in. The only one absent was Loaderror, who
threatened his father to become a drug addict if he didn't drive him all the 200 kilometers to the meeting. However, as he was only a couple of miles away, he felt hungry for a homemade pizza and turned back.
For the next year, ephidrena was practically a 3-members-group. Zixaq went
to France for half a year, and afterwards did his military service, while
Stoney and Cheetah were concidered too lame and left out of any common
activities. At their first pitiable attempt at demo making, at the
gathering 96, the poor sods of ephidrena were utterly crushed and humiliated facing competition with the likes of superpowers like tbl and spaceballs. Later, their skills evolved and the quality of their creations steadily increased, as the work balance between the members changed.
Loaderror started assembler coding in 96 and left the graphics to Cheetah
and Stoney. He has improved enough to be at the top of the coder-charts,
yet he has never done environment mapping. Makes an occasional 4k-tune
with his elite lo-fi amiga softsynth while not drinking beer or eating
fried bangers.
Stoney gradually slided his activities into making gabber music and video,
leaving the group with one main graphician. He also got the inexplicable
notion that girls are nicer than computers, and we haven't really seen any
work from him in a long while.
Cyberstarr, earlier being the main coder, totally stopped coding after the
release of photons - dodraugenremix, claiming not to be motivated enough,
but we think it's because he has eaten too much kebab and become a ruby
coding pc lamer.
Frequent's music was preferred for the early productions, but Zixaq
gradually made his claim to fame as one stunning demomodule after another
started running from the musicmaster's protracker. In most recent prods,
Zixaq has been the one behind the main music, while various intro-, end-,
and in-between-ambience-parts have been made by Frequent.
Frequent has also fallen for the temptations of digiboosters many channels
and luscious dsp echo, and is mainly projecting his musical gifts onto the
high end amiga users these days. They argue fiercely about what music to
be used for each demo and occasionally stab each other with frozen pizza
slices during the hardest music discussions.
Skybert tries to do some drawing now and then if he's not playing the
guitar or pretending to read a book.(How come Cheetah does just normal
things, while the rest of the crew act like vicious pizza wielding
madmen? :) - ed by Loaderror )
The webmaster business has recently been taken over by the savage coder from the desert regions of norway.
